From Quran circles on campus to campaigns that run across the country: what ABSocs and the MSC do through the year.
Faith is at the centre of every ABSoc. Societies hold Quran circles, majalis and gatherings of remembrance, and invite scholars and lecturers to speak on Islamic history, ethics and jurisprudence.
The AhlulBayt calendar, from Muharram to Ramadan and from Mawlid to Wafat, is marked on campus too, so students can keep these occasions wherever they study.
University can be lonely, especially far from home. ABSocs make room for people to belong: sisters' and brothers' socials, hikes, iftars, games nights, and freshers' fairs where new students are welcomed in.
Many of the friendships made at these events, and the support that comes with them, last well beyond graduation.
Serving others is part of the faith, and ABSocs put it into practice, from volunteering at local food banks to raising money for relief appeals abroad.
Food drives and charity dinners are fixtures of the year.
ABSocs bring scholars with different specialisms to campus, hold seminars on Islamic philosophy and history, and run discussion circles and reading groups on classical and contemporary Muslim thought.
Each year the MSC coordinates campaigns that run across the whole network. The flagship is the Ashura Awareness Campaign, which shares the story and meaning of Ashura through exhibitions, talks and social media.
The MSC Annual Conference brings students, alumni, scholars and activists together for a weekend of learning, planning and community.
